Legal Assistants/Paralegals of Southern West Virginia recognized Tamara L. "Tammy" Welch, CP as the LAPSWV 2011 Paralegal of the year at its Seventh Annual Meeting on June 3, 2011, in Charleston, West Virginia. Tammy has been an active member of LAPSWV since its inception in 2004, and volunteers to help out in any way possible to further the cause of LAPSWV and the paralegal profession. She has served on the Executive Committee as NALA Liaison, and currently holds the position of Parliamentarian. Tammy is a natural born leader and an exemplary Parliamentarian, using her extensive knowledge of parliamentary procedures to ensure the exectuive committee members and the organization strictly adhere to the bylaws and to Robert's Rules of Order - the executive committee affectionately refer to her as Ms. Roberts. Tammy's work ethic and legal skills warrant not only the respect of her peers, but also that of the entire legal community.
Tammy has been a paralegal for more than 17 years and has been employed by Jackson Kelly, PLLC in its Charleston, WV office since July 1999. Tammy assists attorneys in the firm’s litigation department, focusing primarily on Medical Liability defense; and has participated in more than 20 trials throughout West Virginia. Ms. Welch received her Certified Legal Assistant (CLA) credentials in January 2000.
Tammy is dependable, always organized, and well prepared for any situation. In addition to her service for LAPSWV, Tammy offers a wealth of information and experience to the paralegal profession through her service to The West Virginia State Bar and the West Virginia Defense Trial Counsel. She has been published in The West Virginia State Bar Journal.
