COURSE SYNOPSIS:

This course focuses upon social media and metadata topics of critical importance including some of the issues pertaining to the admissibility of social media related evidence; the pitfalls of social media and risks to lawyers & staff; the critical importance to draft smartphone discovery requests to minimize malpractice risks; some of the new case law affecting metadata issues and social media in discovery; the critical need to draft metadata related discovery requests; and additional social media and metadata ethics issues that lawyers must learn to consider to avoid problems in their practice. Social media is taking the world by storm and lawyers and paralegals must get on the train before it leaves them permanently behind. In a social media driven world, we have to know what our clients are doing in order to properly represent them.

* Learn to recognize the pitfalls of social media for lawyers & staff who ignore same
* Recognize the critical need for lawyers to draft appropriate smartphone discovery requests
